My Closest Friend
Taken aside by an owl
Without feathers, heart, and mind,
I left a limiting world
For one free of laws and time.
There I learned of love, of war,
Of righteousness, and of sin.
These the owl did teach to me
Becoming my closest friend.
Through trials we both became great,
Defeated many a foe.
Stronger a bond there is not,
Than the tie that we did sow.
Wisdom, it’s said, comes with age,
But I’ll always deny it.
Sounder judgment I ne’r knew
Than when a child, I heard – Hoot.

Hi Reid,
Is this an autobiographical poem?
Did you have a stuffed animal (or imaginary friend) named Hoot?
I love the poem, it's intriguing and makes me wonder about Hoot and what you learned and did together!

Reid just gave me a lesson on how to comment on postings on "Connected Importants". This is my first attempt so consider it a test.
Reid: Hoot was a stuffed animal of mine, and yes the poem is autobiographical
